Threat to kill: Tarique-Alamgir including 9 leaders sued

A case has been filed against 9 leaders, including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have been sued for threatening to sue the party leaders.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrat Shikder's court on Monday (August 5) filed the case with AB Jan Siddiqui, president of Bangladesh Janatri Parishad. 

However, the court has not yet given any order on the case.

The names of others accused are BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisers Amanullah Aman, Standing Committee member Khondaker Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, suspended BUET lecturer Hafizur Rahman Rana and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Emdarul Hoque Bhuyan.

AB Siddique filed the case against them with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder as he was repeatedly receiving death threats through letters.

The court has not issued any order yet regarding the case, the Jononetri Parishad president said.

He also informed that the accused have been threatening him in different ways for several days as he has filed cases against BNP leaders including its party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

He also received a letter of death threat on the name of international militant outfit Islamic State (IS), he said.
