Police press charges against 24 including Minni

Police have filed a charge sheet in the Rifat Sharif murder case of Barguna, widely discussed across the country. Rifat's wife, Ayesha Siddiqua Minnis, the main witness of the case, and 24 others have been charged.

The charge-sheet was filed in Barguna's Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday (September-1).

Rifat's wife Aisha Siddika Minnis, along with 24 others, was charged in the charge-sheet.

On August 25, the High Court Justice Md Inayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman, on condition of not speaking to the media. A bench comprising granted Minnie's bail. However, the state appealed against the bail granted by Minnie to the High Court. 

It is to be noted that on June 26 this year, at around 10 am, terrorists beat Rifat Sharif seriously in front of Barguna Government College. The attackers fled the area, lifting their weapons at Birdarp, ripping Rifat together. Rifat, who was critically injured, was admitted to the Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment in the afternoon.

The deceased's father, Dulal Sharif, filed the case at Barguna Sadar Police Station on Thursday morning (June 27), with the names of 12 people and several others unknown.

Police have arrested 15 persons so far in the case. On July 2, the main accused in the case, Nayan Bond, was killed in a gun battle with police. 

On the morning of July 16, Minnie was taken to her father's house in Nayakata-Myatha area of Barguna Municipality for questioning on the police line. She was then arrested at 9 pm after a lengthy interrogation. Police later questioned him on remand. Then Rifat confessed to being involved in the murder.
