OC, SI closed over allegation of gang-raping a woman

Khulna GRP (Railway) Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Osman Ghani Pathan and Sub Inspector Nazmul Haque were withdrawn (closed) on charges of raping a woman and later being sent to court in a Phensidil case.

Khulna Railway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) of Government Railway Police Station Osman Gani Pathan and Sub-Inspector Nazmul Haque have been closed over their alleged involvement in gang-raping a women in police custody.

The police administration closed the officials on Wednesday (August 7). Firoz Ahmed, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Kushtia Railway Circle confirmed the news.

Earlier on Sunday, a woman filed a complaint with the district’s additional chief judicial magistrate’s court saying, Khulna GRP Police Station Officer-in-Charge Osman Gani Pathan on the night of August 2, a housewife has allegedly raped and beaten four policemen.

The woman alleged, the GRP police first took her to the police station for theft of mobile phones when she was on the train from Jessore. Later in the night, GRP police OC Osman Gani sent her raped. The other four police were raped in turn. The next day, on August 3, he was handed over to the court with a case containing 5 bottles. The woman brought the matter to the GRP police station before the judge before the court. The Judicial Magistrate, then a court, ordered his medical examination.

Meanwhile, the Police Headquarters yesterday formed a three-member probe committee, headed by Shehela Parvin, superintendent of Railway Police, to investigate the incident.

The body was asked to submit its report within seven working days, said Assistant Inspector General Md Sohel Rana.

Earlier on Monday, the Railway Police had formed another three-member committee, headed by Firoz Ahmed, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Kushtia Railway Circle. It would also file its report within seven days.
