The fire, which broke out at the Election Commission Building, has been brought under control.
12 units of firefighters brought the blaze under control after half an hour of their efforts around 12:25am, sources at Fire Service and Civil Defence control room told Breakingnews.com.bd.
No casualties were reported yet and the reason behind the blaze could not be known immediately.
The fire originated on the ground floor of the building around 11:00pm.
On information, the five fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and started working to douse the blaze. Seven more units joined later.
Officer-in-charge of Fire Service and Civil Defence control room Md. kamrul hasan said that there were Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) on the ground floor where the fire broke out.
