Myanmar has agreed to return Rohingyas: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said the Myanmar government has agreed to return the displaced Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh to their homeland in the face of military oppression.

He said this at a seminar on Rohingyas repatriation at the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday (September 18).

He said, "Myanmar government has agreed to take back their people, We have discussions with Myanmar government.”

Calling Myanmar a 'Conservative', the Foreign Minister said, "They are very conservative, nobody listens. Don't want to hear But hopefully, this time they have agreed to take back the Rohingya.”

He claimed, "China or Russia now rely heavily on the people whom Myanmar has talked to over the Rohingya crisis over the years."

However, Rohingyas, who have taken refuge in Bangladesh, still cannot trust the Myanmar government's assurances or promises, the foreign minister said.
