Three People, including two Rohingyas, were killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Cox's Bazar. The incident took place in the Baharachhara hill area of ​​Teknaf on Thursday morning.

Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das confirmed to the media the gun battle.

Police claim that the accused were absconding in various cases including weapons, drugs, and murder. Three police injured in the gunfight. Three weapons and six rounds recovered from the scene.

The deceased are - Fazle Ahmed, son of Rohingya slum No 17 of Ukhia Balukhali Jamil (20), Nabi Mohammad's son of the same Rohingya slum. Asmat Ullah (21), and Teknaf's Baharchara Nawapara area deceased Md. Ali's son of Rafiq (24).

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das said the three accused were arrested on Wednesday night in several cases including murder, weapons and drugs. They confessed to interrogation- They were actively involved in various criminal activities including theft, robbery, kidnapping and killing of people in different areas of the Upazila.

According to their confession, at the dawn of Baharachara Shamalpur Dala area, in the early morning, when they went to retrieve the looted belongings of arms and robbers, the armed terrorists opened fire on the policemen to get the drugs. Police also opened fire in self-defense. At that time, the armed terrorists escaped tactically, he added.

He added that the three accused, who were arrested at night from the scene after the shootings of both sides, were rescued in a shootout. After taking them to Teknaf Upazila Hospital, the responsible doctor sent them to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment through first aid. After being taken there, the duty doctor declared the three of them dead.
