President M Abdul Hamid reached here this afternoon on a week-long tour.
During the visit from October 9 to 15, the President will attend several programmes at Tarail, Kishoreganj, Mithamain, Itna and Austagram upazilas of the district.
This is the third visit of Abdul Hamid to his native district after he took charge as the country’s President for the second consecutive term on April 24, 2018. President Hamid arrived here by a helicopter that landed at Shimulhati Helipad Ground of Tarail upazila around 2:30 pm.
Upon his arrival, local political leaders and senior officials of the district administration received him with bouquets. Local political leaders, senior civil and military officials and secretaries concerned to Bangabhaban are accompanying the President during the visit.
President Hamid today addressed a public rally at Muktijouddha Degree College ground of Tarail in the afternoon and earlier he inaugurated a statue named “Swadhinata 71 Vaskarjya” there.
Tomorrow, the head of the state is expected to attend a function of Kishoreganj District Bar Association on Judges Court premises at 12 noon.
On Friday, the President will address a public rally at the Freedom Fighter Abdul Haque Government Degree College ground at Mithamain upazila around 3 pm. He will address a reception for meritorious students at Rastropati Abdul Hamid Auditorium, Mithamain, on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, he will address a rally at President Hamid Government College Playground, Itna in the afternoon. He will also hold a view-exchange meeting with local political leaders, distinguished persons and journalists at Rastropati Abdul Hamid Auditorium in the evening.
On Monday, the President will address a public meeting at Astagram Playground, Astagram at 3 pm. On the same day, he will exchange views with distinguished personalities at Rastropati Abdul Hamid Auditorium in the evening.
On the last day (Tuesday) of his week-long programme, Abdul Hamid will witness the progress of development works at Astagram upazila at 11 am. The President will return to Dhaka in the afternoon on the day. Source: BSS
