Abrar murder: Buet Chhatra League leader Amit Shaha held

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) unit BUET unit Chhatra League law affairs secretary Amit Shaha has been detained in connection with the murder of Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the university.

He was detained from Dhaka's Sabujbagh area around 11 am on Thursday. DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter.

At least fourteen members of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) unit Chhatra League have been detained in connection with the murder of Abrar.

Amit Saha was on the first inquiry into whether a talented student of Bangladesh Engineering University (BUET) was in Abrar Fahad Hall. On the evening of the incident, Amit Saha gave a message to a friend of Abrar in the English messenger 'Abrar Fahad Hall'.

Meanwhile, Abrar's father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case against 19 people with Chawkbazar police station on Monday evening.

“All the14 detainees have been included in the case,” the OC said.

In another development, the Buet authorities filed a general diary with the police station, said a press release signed by the university acting registrar Prof Dr Md Saidur Rahman.
