BCL President Shovon, GS Rabbani removed

A meeting of the Awami League's Central Executive Parliament was held at the Prime Minister's Government House (Ganabhaban) on Saturday night (September 14). The decision, was taken at the meeting that Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani have been removed.

Nahian Khan Joy, the 1st vice-president of the organisation, will act as the acting president while Bhattacharya, and the 1st joint secretary-general of the organization, will perform as the general secretary, told the media.

On the other hand, the student organisation (BCL) General Secretary Golam Rabbani told: The authorities of Jahangirnagar University have paid Tk 1 crore 60 lakh to Bangladesh Chhatra League (Jahangirnagar University) unit from an ongoing development project of the university.

He made the report in a letter that he and BCL president Shovon jointly wrote to Awami League president Sheikh Hasina apologising for their mistakes and controversial activities on Sep-12. Offical told the media.

On the other hand, Prof Farzana Islam Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University claimed that central Chhatra League President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani of demanding a "4-6%" cut from the Tk1,445cr development project at the university, and her family had given Tk1.6cr to the Jahangirnagar University Chhatra League, so they did not get in the way of the development project.

On October 23, 2017, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved a Tk1, 445cr development project for Jahangirnagar University. And, in the first phase of implementation of the project, the university administration took the initiative to build five residential halls at the cost of Tk400cr, reports say.

Prof Farzana Islam told the media, Shovon and Rabbani came to my residence on August 8, and demanded a 4-6% cut, and Rabbani told me that the time, when people got a cut of 1-2%, is over, in this day, a 4-6% cut is needed. When I did not agree to their demands, Rabbani misbehaved with me,
