Khulna AL leader temporarily suspended over anti-state post

Khulna Awami League Executive Committee member Sheikh Baharul Alam has been temporarily suspended for posting anti-state status- relations between India and Bangladesh on his personal Facebook account.

Khulna district unit Awami League Office Secretary Advocate Farid Ahmed issued a press release in this regard on Wednesday evening.

The statement said: "Baharul Alam violated party discipline by posting an anti-state status related to the business relations between India and Bangladesh on his personal Facebook account.”

“He also passed a direct comment on the nature of India's treatment towards Bangladesh regarding the recent issue of exporting and importing gas between the two countries.”

"We also sent him a show-cause notice, asking him to explain within seven working days his action, and why the committee should not ban him permanently from the party," the release furthered.”

Khulna district unit Awami League President Sheikh Harunur Rashid chaired the meeting in which the decision of suspending Baharul was taken.
