Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary said that massive security measures have been taken in the country to celebrate the main religious festival of Buddhist religion Buddha Purnima with enthusiasm and religious sentiments.
He said, "Police officers have been instructed to set up check posts and block raid at important places considering Buddha Purnima. Units have been instructed to ensure flawless security in Buddhist temples with the help of community policing members, local volunteers and Buddhist religious leaders.
He said this at a meeting on Tuesday (14th May) at the conference room of the Police Headquarters, on the occasion of the Buddha Purnima regarding rule and law as well security measures.
The IGP said, 'There is no specific threat to the security in Buddha Purnima. In order to consolidate the security system, special security measures have been taken in the Buddhist temple.’
Buddhist religions will celebrate Buddha Purnima at the staggering on May 18, at around 2,500 Buddhist temples of the country.
