NCL Cricket, Sylhet earn 1st victory beating Dhaka Metro by 8 wkts

Sylhet Division earned the first victory beating Dhaka Metro by eight wickets in their 2nd round Tier-2 match of National Cricket League (NCL) on the 4th and final day at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Sunday.

Needing 201 runs for victory in the 2nd innings, Sylhet easily reached their target with a century by Imtiaz Hossain and half-century by Zakir Hasan.

In the other second round matches, Khulna beat Rajshahi by seven wickets at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna while the other two games between Dhaka and Rangpur, Chattogram and Barishal ended in draw.

Sylhet Division vs Dhaka Metro: Resuming their overnight total of 225 for six, Dhaka Metro posted 273 in 119 overs in their second innings at Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura.

Mahmudullah Riyad, who has been in tremendous form in NCL, hit 111 for Dhaka while Shahidul Islam posted 42. Riding on their bats, Dhaka Metro set 201 as the target of Sylhet to seal the game.

Abu Jayed Rahi bagged four wickets fo Sylhet conceding 49 runs, Imran Ali and Enamul Haque took two wickets each.

In the final innings of the match, Sylhet scored 204 for two in 52.3 overs and won the game by a big margin of eight wickets.

Opener Imtiaz hit 110 off 178 balls with 11 fours and one six while Zakir posted 72 off 105 to win the game for Sylhet.

Arafat Sunny and Manik Khan bagged one wicket each for Dhaka.

Chattogram vs Barishal: The other game of Tier-2 between Chattogram and Barishal ended in a draw at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.

Resuming their second innings on 51/1 in 19 overs, Chattogram posted 196 for six in 47 overs and declared the innings to set a target of 336 for Barishal.

Overnight batsman Pinak Ghosh hit 54 while another overnight batsman Mominul Haque posted 30. Along with them, Mahidul Islam Ankon scored 43.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi took two wickets for Barishal conceding 43 runs in 16 overs.

In the final innings, Barishal scored 174 for six in 65 overs to end the final day of the game and finish the game in a draw.

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful hit 60 off 108 balls with six fours and Shahriar Nafees scored 42.

Nayeem Hassan scalped 4 conceding 54 runs in 29 overs and Noman Chowdhury bagged 2 conceding 34 runs.

Dhaka Divison vs Rangpur Divison: Resuming their overnight total of 334/5 in 108 overs, Rangpur posted 508 runs in their first innings against Dhaka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Overnight batsman Naeem Islam (124) ended on 135 off 324 balls with 13 fours and one six while Sohrawordi Shuvo scored unbeaten 92 off 198 balls with five fours and one six.

Sumon Khan and Nazmul Islam bagged three wickets for Dhaka while Sumon Khan scalped two.

Later, Dhaka scored 10 for none in three overs to end the fourth and final day of the game and settled down for a draw.

Earlier, Dhaka Division posted 556/8 in 160 overs (declared) riding on the double-ton of Saif Hassan (220*).
